Supporting The Meningitis Trust

The Meningitis Trust is a registered charity providing vital
support services to help rebuild lives shattered by this
devastating disease. These include a:
- Free-phone 24-hour nurse-led Helpline that
provides dedicated information and support to
health professionals and the public
- Counselling service
- Hospital visiting scheme and a financial
support grants programme which funds
prosthetic limbs, mobility aids and specialist
equipment to help meningitis patients get their
lives back on track
Our support services are expensive to run, and as only
1% of our funds come from the Government, we rely on
donations from businesses like Rainbow International, to
continue our vital work.
The Rainbow International John O’Groats to Lands End
cycle challenge would help to generate the necessary
funds to enable us to support meningitis sufferers and
their families across the UK, but also enable us to raise
awareness of this devastating disease to wider
audiences.
Why support the Meningitis Trust?
- The Meningitis Trust is a medium sized charity so
your fundraising will make a big impact
- Meningitis is a highly emotive cause of direct
relevance to your staff and customers
- In 2007 we celebrate the Trust’s 21st anniversary
and have plans for a variety of events and PR
throughout the year
- We can set up a dedicated web page and link to your own website
- We can publicise your event in our ‘Headlines’
newsletter which is sent out to 13,000 supporters,
three times a year
- Both organisations share synergies, namely the
delivery of specialist services to key audiences in
a professional manner. Like Rainbow International
the Meningitis Trust blends a strong international outlook with a local community focus.
Each year, Rainbow International "adopt" a chosen
charity to support those less fortunate than
ourselves. Through a detailed programme of
events we raise funds, usually culminating at our
annual Reunion, with a wide variety of fundraising
activities.
In recent years we have supported The Childrens
Society and The Treloar Trust, and they have both
benefitted from the generosity of the Rainbow
International network.
The steering committee is pleased to announce
that for the coming 12 months all of our efforts will
be directed towards the fund nominated. The team
have chosen to raise funds for the charity The
Meningitis Trust Whose vision is described as:-
"Working toward a world that is free from
meningitis and where those affected by the
disease receive quality care and support."
Their mission –
"Continuing to be the world authority on
meningitis, leading the fight against the disease
and empowering people and organisations
through collaborative working, to reduce the
threat of meningitis and its impact on people
everywhere."
It provides the following services across all
countries in which it operates: 24 hour Helpline led
by specially trained nurses, network of community
groups and volunteers, one to one contacts. In
addition, the following services are available in the
UK: professional counselling service, financial
grants (not available in Ireland), home visiting
service.
